Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from May 11th to 17th, 2020.
On May 11, 2020 a 38-year-old male from Kingston was arrested on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant. The male had been previously arrested by the Gananoque Police Service and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle from an accident on August 7, 2019. As a result of further investigation, the accused’s vehicle was found to have several cheques, not in his name, inside.
The owners were located, and they were deemed stolen. The male was charged with several theft/possession related offences and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
In the early morning hours of May 14, 2020 officers responded to a report of a verbal dispute at a local motel. Upon attending officers determined the dispute was not criminal in nature, but the female caller was wanted by Cornwall Police Service for several outstanding criminal charges. The 26-year-old female, a resident Brockville with no fixed address, was arrested and returned to Cornwall to answer to the charges.
On May 14, 2020 a 28-year-old Prescott female who was before the courts on drug possession and theft charges was arrested as a result of her current bail surety revoking their surety duties, and a warrant being issued. The female was transported to Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre and appeared in Brockville court the following day via video link.
On May 15, 2020 officers responded to a Gananoque residence for a domestic dispute in progress. Upon the female’s contact with police, the male fled the residence to return to his residence which was not in the area. As a result of the investigation, and with the assistance of the Petawawa Military Police a 31-year-old from Petawawa was located, arrested and charged with 2 counts of assault and 1 count of failing to comply with probation for the consumption of alcohol.
In the early morning hours of May 17, 2020 officers, while on routine patrol, observed a male walking along King St. The male was unsteady on his feet, requiring holding onto storefronts to hold himself in an upright position, and further took a seated position numerous times while speaking with police. The male was determined to be intoxicated by alcohol and was arrested for public intoxication for his own personal safety.
The male was held in custody until sobered and released. The male was also in possession of a quantity of numerous cannabis products that he obtained by unlawful means in Ontario. The 54-year-old from Gananoque was charged with public intoxication under the Liquor License Act and Unlawful Purchase of Cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act.
