Citizens report poor driving habits to OPP

LEEDS –   Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing an investigation into a driving complaint that leads to a driver and passenger taken into custody for drugs.

On July 11, 2018 at ab,out 6:45 AM Leeds OPP officers received complaints from members of the public reporting erratic driving on Highway 401 in Front of Yonge Township. Included in the complaint was a description of the vehicle, the location, reports that the vehicle had almost driven into the back of a tractor trailer, and identifying concern for a baby in the back seat.

Officers located the vehicle and occupants at the Onroute Service Centre in Mallorytown. After an investigation, a 20 year old female from Oshawa and a 27 year old man from Whitby were arrested for being in possession of marijuana and cocaine. Both are scheduled to answer to their charges at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on August 17, 2018.

We rely on the public to report crime and poor driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired by alcohol or other drugs and intends on driving, strongly discourage them from driving and call 9-1-1 if they insist.
