Newspaper Fire

Unknown persons lit some newspapers on fire next to an empty building on Water Street between the museum and The Mill restaurant Friday evening.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Brockville Police and Fire Services responded to a call of a small near the proposed Wayfare Condominium complex.  The fire department quickly extinguished the fire and there was little damage and no injuries.

Constable Dustin Gamble is investigating.

Unwanted Person leads to Arrest

Police were called to a Ferguson Drive residence late Friday evening on a complaint of a person refusing to leave the residence after being evicted.

At 10:30 p.m. officers arrived at the residence to learn the unwanted female was attempting to take a bike which the property owner claim claims does not belong to her. While police were attempting to mediate that situation, a 25 year old male friend of the woman was also present and known to the police.

Further investigation revealed the man to have an outstanding warrant for breaching his probation and as a result he was arrested for the warrant and released with a future court date.

Public Intoxication

A 39 year old Brockville man spent the night at the Brockville Police station after being found intoxicated and asleep at the corner of King Street and Victoria Avenue.

Officers on patrol located the man at approximately 1:50 a.m. Saturday morning and learned earlier in the evening he was involved in several altercations on King Street with other bar patrons.

As a result he was arrested for Public Intoxication for his own safety and held until sober when he was released with a provincial offences notice in the morning.

Disturbance at Buell St Parking lot

While on patrol officers came across a disturbance between two males in the Buell St parking late Saturday night.

At 10:50 p.m. located the disturbance while in the downtown core. Brockville police officers separated the 48 year old and 41 year old male combatants and sent them to their respective residences in opposite directions on King Street.

Neither male appeared to have any injuries from the incident.

Tires Slashed in Downtown area

Overnight Saturday evening and Sunday Morning the Brockville Police Service responded to 7 complaints of tires being slashed King Street West and St. Paul St Area.

The majority of the vehicles that were damaged were parking in the Metro store parking lot.

Some of the damaged vehicles had been parked there from 4:30 pm Saturday afternoon until police were contacted Sunday morning at 3:00 a.m.
