Brockville – A post on social media led Brockville Police to recover a stolen iPad and the arrest of a 35-year-old Brockville area man.
The iPad was posted on a popular social media site for sale locally and an alert Brockville Police officer recognized it as one of the items stolen from an investigation he was working on. Officers, posing as potential buyers contacted the seller and arranged to meet him at a local coffee shop to view the iPad and negotiate a purchase. When the seller arrived and produced the iPad he was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property and the iPad was seized.
The man who is known to police was searched incident to the arrest and found to be in possession of a quantity of drugs believed to be crystal meth and cocaine. At the time of the arrest he was at large on a recognizance of bail for other drug-related offenses, possession of counterfeit money, and breaching his probation order. As a result he was held in custody pending a bail hearing later today.
