OPP CONGRATULATES NEWLY-APPOINTED CHIEF SUPERINTENDENTS

ORILLIA – In a badge presentation ceremony held at Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) General Headquarters in Orillia today, OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique appointed seven new Chief Superintendents to key leadership roles in the organization. The ceremony was attended by OPP members including Senior Command staff, as well as family members of the newly-promoted Chief Superintendents.

The appointment of these senior leaders follows the promotion of three Chief Superintendents to the rank of Deputy Commissioner in the fall of 2019, and the recent retirement of four veteran Chief Superintendents. All of those promoted today previously held the rank of Superintendent with the OPP, and have served as police officers in successful careers ranging from 25 to 30 years.

The newly-promoted Chief Superintendents and their new roles are:

  • Chief Superintendent Marc BEDARD, Commander, Communications and Technology Services Bureau
  • Chief Superintendent Kari DART, Commander, Investigation and Support Bureau
  • Chief Superintendent Paul MACKEY, Commander, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau
  • Chief Superintendent Carson PARDY, Commander, North East Region
  • Chief Superintendent Dwight PEER, Commander, Central Region
  • Chief Superintendent Karl THOMAS, Commander, East Region
  • Chief Superintendent Rohan THOMPSON, Commander, Highway Safety Division

“From all of our Chief Superintendents, you can expect people-centred and frontline-focused leadership that ensures safe communities and a secure Ontario – Chiefs that care about and support our members, while enabling them to fulfill our mission of public safety.” – Thomas Carrique, Commissioner, Ontario Provincial Police

  • Chief Superintendents are senior leaders in the OPP’s uniform rank structure, exceeded only by the executive ranks of Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner.
  • The OPP congratulates the seven new Chief Superintendents on their promotions as they accept the responsibilities of their new leadership roles.
