Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Ottawa Office, today announced that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Robert Garry Cyr.
Mr. Cyr, 47, died in hospital on Nov. 24, 2015, from injuries sustained while working as a roofer at a construction site. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding his death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately eight witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Keefer Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. W. Dr. Robert Reddoch will preside as inquest coroner and Jon Fuller will be counsel to the coroner.
