Brockville – Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. Strong westerly wind gusts near 90 km/h expected Monday.
A low pressure system is currently moving north along the eastern American seaboard while intensifying. It will become an intense autumn storm as it approaches eastern Ontario tonight.
Strong north to northwesterly winds will develop early Monday morning as the storm approaches. The westerly winds that develop during the day on Monday are expected to reach gusts near 90 km/h. Areas over high terrain, open terrain, and downwind of lakes will experience the strongest winds.
This storm will also bring rain, at times heavy tonight. Please refer to the rainfall warning in effect.
Given the presence of leaves on some trees, these severe winds may cause many impacts, such as broken branches and power outages.
Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
