UPDATE: Lanark & Leeds-Grenville Covid Cases – April 27, 2020

April 27, 2020 Update – *Cases are reported from data collected at 4:00pm yesterday.

The Lanark, Leeds-Grenville District Health Unit is reporting today that there is a total of 291 cases and 39 deaths in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark (Lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases updated Monday to Friday only)

Surveillance Reports

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has had the highest per capita number of people with lab confirmed COVID-19 compared to other Health Unit regions in Ontario. The reason for this is the high proportion (about 60%) of individuals in our region who have tested positive for COVID-19 and who live in long-term care or retirement homes. We have been testing many people in homes with an outbreak to better manage the outbreak.

Available Monday to Friday

This map outlines lab-confirmed community-based COVID-19 cases aggregated by sub-regional geography for Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit municipalities. These case counts include health care workers and persons not residing in a retirement/long-term care facility. However, those facilities that are currently in a COVID-19 related outbreak are highlighted on the map.

*To align with the Ministry of Health’s reporting system, our daily summary must be based on the data that is in the province’s disease reporting system called iPHIS (integrated Public Health Information System) as of 4:00pm the previous day. This ensures alignment of the data we report with the data the province reports.

**When presenting statistics for a specific area it is critical that individual identity is preserved. So we have decided to follow accepted statistical practice and not report numbers for municipalities that have less than 5 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. To provide some data by place of residence, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville has been grouped into sub-regions to describe the distribution of the people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in our region.
