North Grenville – Last Wednesday January 20, 2021, shortly after 6:15 p.m., members of the Grenville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) at County Road 18 in Bishop Mills.
While speaking with the driver of a vehicle, officers detected freshly smoked cannabis and as a result of further investigation seized drug paraphernalia, a quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine and cannabis.
OPP have charged a 41 year-old Cardinal man and a 26 year-old woman from Edwardsburgh with the following offences:
· Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine – section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
· Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine- section 5(2) of the CDSA – two counts
The man was given an additional charge of failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to sec. 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC). He was held for a bail hearing.
The woman was also charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs CC sec 320.14(1)(a). She was released and is to appear before Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on February 19, 2021.
