Two Collisions Send Injured Parties to Hospital in Leeds County

Leeds County – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating two collisions that caused injuries.

On May 26, 2020 at about 10:30 a.m. officers responded to reports of a single vehicle collision on Highway 15, South Crosby Township. The driver of a northbound vehicle lost control and ended up in the ditch. The driver and passenger were both transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

On May 26, 2020 at about 4:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on County Road 29 south of Kitley Line 4, Kitley Township. A northbound driver lost control of a pickup truck, rolling the vehicle in to the ditch. The driver, a 29 year old from Smith Falls, Ontario was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious non-life threatening injuries. As a result of the collision, the driver was charged with:

• Careless driving HTA 130(1)

• Driving while under suspension HTA 53(1)

• Driver fail to properly wear seat belt HTA 106(2)

County Road 29 remained closed for approximately three hours. The investigation is ongoing.
