Prescott – On January 20, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a dispute between a Prescott tow truck company and a 30 year old, town of Prescott resident. The tow company was assisting with snow removal and had towed a vehicle on James Street. The OPP were contacted by the tow company, reporting that the resident had gotten into the vehicle and had started it, after it was attached and strapped onto the flatbed tow.
Police attended and observed the running vehicle, attached to the tow, with the resident sitting in the driver’s seat. Police requested that the resident exit the vehicle and the resident complied. Further investigation revealed that not only did this individual owe money to the tow company, but that there was a warrant for their arrest, for having failed to attend court on outstanding drug charges.
The police arrested this individual at location, but prior to their departure the accused paid the outstanding fee to the tow company. The accused was held in custody and will appear before the Brockville Bail court on January 21, 2020.
