Brockville – Three local women, Jan Murray, Rita VanSpriel and Karon Warren were recently in Nairobi Kenya on behalf of “Our Kenyan Kids” a local organization that currently supports 8 different projects in and around the Nairobi area.
Each year, the team goes over, both board members as well as individuals interested in learning about the projects. This year that included both Jan and Rita from the board and Karon who is visiting for her first time.
One of the projects they saw on their first few days was Gathaithi School for Orphans and Vulnerable Children. While there the school ensured the group were well welcomed and entertained, both by the students as well as three young lads from the community who are musical competitors in their fields and have won numerous awards.
The Our Kenyan Kids Project Experience Team had an opportunity to visit the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. This is the best way to be “up close and personal” with the giraffe – one of the many wild animals the team has the pleasure to see while in Nairobi. The giraffes are very much wild, and yet accustomed to being hand fed and having their pictures taken!
