Brockville – The third annual Ben TeKamp Memorial Awards were held on Tuesday at the Court House Lodge in Brockville.
The award was presented to three exceptional and outstanding Leeds and Grenville businesses who have displayed a remarkable capacity to revitalize, meet the changing needs of the community, and display a creative approach for growth.
This year’s award winners were: Leslie Bottigoni, owner of LeMar LUXE Spa Studio in Prescott, Sophie Cushing, owner of Thousand Islands Hearing Centre in Brockville and James and Kelsey Budyinski, owners of Elgin Street Convenience & Gas Bar in Athens.
Nominees for the award included: King’s Lock Craft Distillery, HUA Fitness Centre/POPEYE’S Supplements; Olde Magick; Golden Soles Footwear & Accessories; Advonex International; Maven Marketing; 1000 Islands B and B; McCann Mechanical; Court House Lodge; Productions Double Concept; and Podium Sports Therapy & Wellness Centre.
For scores of entrepreneurs in the Leeds and Grenville area, Ben TeKamp was the guiding force who helped turn their ideas into successful businesses. Ben TeKamp championed and advocated for local community economic development from both a public and private perspective.
Successful applicants for the Ben TeKamp Memorial Award must be located in the Leeds-Grenville area. The award is presented to outstanding businesses that is new, or has reinvented itself, to meet the changing needs of Leeds and Grenville. These nominated businesses will have displayed a strong sense of innovation and creativity.
