Brockville – The Sixth Annual MyView Youth Film Festival Awards Ceremony was held last Thursday evening, June 6th at the Brockville Arts Centre!
Young people were encouraged to pick up their phones or cameras and make a short video that celebrates something in their life or community, which shows a solution to a problem or showcase their opinion.
Their were prizes for age categories; 10 to 13, 14 to 17 and 18 to 24, as well as best overall video which came with a $1,000 prize courtesy of the title sponsor, McGahey Insurance & Grenville Mutual.
Nine films were nominated this year. Two in the 18-24 category, four in the 14-17 age category and three in the 10-13 age category.

B&H: World’s Best Grocer by Adam Yakimovich – Kemptville
Bulling & How to Solve It by Demetra Foley & Kelauna Doyle – Lansdowne
Relieving Street by Jorja Reed & Zoe Harrall – Lansdowne
The winners were:
Adam Yakimovich with “B&H: World’s Best Grocer” (10-13 Age Category);
Max Benda with “Simple Math” (14-17);
Joy Covey with “Precious Cargo” (18-24);
Best overall video and the grand prize was awarded to Lauren Armstrong, Leah Garrah, Leah Hamlen, and Hannah Pruner for “It’s Your Choice”
The Myview Film Festival is a unique youth engagement initiative that encourages young people to express themselves through film.
