Prescott – During the week of September 30 through to October 7, 2019, officers with the Prescott Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 185 calls for service. The calls for service included:
On September 30, at approximately 7:30 p.m., OPP officers responded to a domestic dispute at residence in Augusta Township. As a result of this investigation, a 28 year old from Augusta Township, is charged with:
Spousal assault x 2
Mischief – domestic
Unlawfully in dwelling house
Fail to comply with undertaking x 2
Break and enter
The accused was held in custody to appear before Bail Court, at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice.
On October 1, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers attended a neighbour dispute on Duke Street, in the town of Prescott. At this location, a neighbour had threatened another neighbour with an edged weapon. A 47 year old, from Prescott is charged with Assault. The accused will appear before the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice on November 1, 2019.
On October 3, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Grenville County OPP responded to a family dispute at a residence in the village of Cardinal. The 32 year old victim, from Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township, suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.The victim’s family member, aged 23 of Cardinal is charged with:
Assault with a weapon
Also charged with Assault, is a 23 year old, from Edwardsburg/Cardinal Township. Both the accused were held in custody to appear before Bail Court, at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice.
On October 3, at approximately 1:30 p.m., an Ottawa taxi driver contacted the Grenville County OPP to report that one of his customers had not paid for his cab fare from Ottawa, to Johnstown. Further investigation revealed that the accused was additionally, in possession of a stolen laptop computer.
The 39 year old accused, from Elora is charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice on November 8, 2019.
On October 4, at approximately 8:00 p.m., police responded to a mental health call at an Augusta Township residence. At this location, a 43 year old was arrested and charged with:
Fail to comply with undertaking x 2
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order
Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.
The accused was held in custody to appear before Bail Court, at Brockville Ontario Court of Justice.
On October 5, the Cardinal Public Library reported that their rear window had been smashed. This damage is believed to have been caused by a thrown object. This incident occurred when the library was closed, sometime between October 3, to the morning of October 5, 2019. Currently, there are no know suspects in this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Prescott OPP.
On October 6, at approximately 4:00 p.m. an unidentified person stole numerous bottles of alcohol from the LCBO store, located on King Street, in Prescott. The suspect placed his stolen bottles into an orange and black reusable grocery bag and ran from the store, towards George and King Street. The suspect is described as appearing to be male, between 25-30 years of age, a scar on the left side of his face, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing grey sweatpants and a light grey sweater.
