Police Continue to Investigate Homicide in City

Police Continue to Investigate Homicide in City

Brockville – Brockville police continue to investigate the homicide that occurred between 9:30pm and 10:00pm on November 17th on Cedar Street in the City.

Investigators would like to speak to the driver and occupants of several vehicles that are believed to have been in the area around that time. Please contact the Brockville police at 613-342-0127 if you are one of those persons.

Brockville Police responded to a call of a disturbance on Cedar Street between Church and Abbott Street on November 17th around 9:55pm. The caller stated one of the individuals involved had suffered injuries and needed an ambulance.

Officers arrived on scene to discover the victim suffering from stab wounds. The officers and paramedics attempted lifesaving efforts, but the victim Matthew McKinnon 32 years of age did not survive.

The accused male took refuge in a nearby residence and later surrendered to police through the use of a negotiator and the Emergency Response team. Ryan Russell Ballantyne, 34 years of age, has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Weapons Dangerous. Ballantyne was held in custody.
