OPP: IMPAIRED DRIVER’S CHARGED OVER THE WEEKEND

Rideau Lakes – Officers of the Leeds County Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing investigations into incidents involving impaired drivers.

On June 24, 2018 officers from the Rideau Lakes OPP detachment were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision. Police were advised that a vehicle was in the ditch on Old Kingston Road. At approximately 4:30 AM officers located the vehicle stopped on the shoulder with the driver behind the wheel. Investigation led to 29 year old Kristopher THOM of South Elmsley Township being charged with Care or Control while Ability Impaired and Care or Control Over 80mgs. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on July 6, 2018.

On June 24, 2018 at approximately 7:20 PM and 8:15 PM, Rideau Lakes OPP officers received 2 separate traffic complaints regarding the same vehicle. Police located the vehicle on County Road 42, North Crosby Township after the driver had driven into the ditch. 34 year old Benjamin SEWARD of North Crosby Township was charged with Driving with More Than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on July 27, 2018.

Both drivers found their vehicles towed and impounded.
