Brockville – The Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre hosted its annual Friends for Life! Walk™ presented by Petplan® on Saturday, September 22nd in Downtown Brockville.
This year there was a change in venue, after being held at the shelter the last couple of years, this year the walk started out at Armagh S. Price Park in front of the Brockville Railway Tunnel. It featured the walk, a BBQ, and live music.
Leading the walk this year were Sherry and Rebekka McDougall who adopted Bailey, from the local shelter through the Year of the Northern Dog. The Year of the Northern Dog is a campaign aimed at bringing awareness, attention and action to the escalating animal welfare issue in Canada – Northern dog overpopulation.
Rebekka McDougall also provided the live music during the event.
Saturday’s event was in support of abused, neglected and abandoned animals in the Leeds & Grenville community. It is a major fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA and participating Affiliate Societies that took place in 13 communities across Ontario. Funds raised support programs and services provided by Ontario SPCA animal centres and humane societies across Ontario.
