PRESCOTT – Northern Cables Inc. is investing $2-million in an expansion connecting two of its facilities in the Fort Town.
“It’s been a pleasure doing business in Prescott,” CEO Shelley Bacon said at the announcement Monday before a crowd of workers and guests at the Susan Street plant. The 16,200-square-foot addition will connect the Susan Street facility with a Northern Cables building on Wood Street.
“The addition will permit the company to add key metal working equipment to further vertically integrate and provide additional bare conductor making capacity,” he said. It is expected to be complete by late fall.
The expansion will mean new jobs in Prescott and also another 10-12 at their Brockville sites over the next few years. Northern Cables makes low voltage armoured commercial and industrial cable for the North American market.
“It’s a big day for Prescott and the entire region,” said Prescott Mayor Brett Todd, who was the MC for the announcement.
