Brockville – In a letter to parents and guardians, the UCDSB shared the following:
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), which represents elementary teachers within our board, gave notice that the Upper Canada District School Board WILL BE impacted by the rotating one-day strikes taking place next week on Wednesday, Jan. 29 if there is no progress made at the central bargaining table.
This means there will be no classes or transportation for any of our Kindergarten to Grade 8 students, this includes Grade 7 and Grade 8 students that attend a secondary school or specialized programs (e.g. ABLE). Classes will resume as usual on Thursday, Jan. 30 for those in Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Please make alternative child care arrangements and do not send your child to school on Wednesday, Jan. 29. If you use a child care facility within one of our schools, be sure to contact your care provider directly with questions.
Classes and transportation for students in Grade 9 to 12 will not be impacted. All classes, exams and planned activities will proceed as usual for these students.
We will communicate any additional labour-related updates via email, the UCDSB website and social media.
