Ottawa – March comes in like a wet lion along with very mild temperatures.

Areas of rain will continue to affect Eastern Ontario today as a strong Colorado low moves by just to the north of the region. Most areas will receive a total of 15 to 25 mm of rain.

Caution is advised near creeks and rivers as the ground has a reduced ability to absorb further rainfall due to recent mild weather and snowmelt.

A sharp cold front will sweep out the very mild air this evening, with precipitation changing quickly over to a few flurries as temperatures plunge to well below zero tonight.

Motorists should exercise caution today as poorly drained sections of highways may be subject to ponding of water. For tonight, poorly drained sections of highways may become icy if untreated. Travel plans should be adjusted accordingly.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
