Brockville – When is a chair, not a chair? When it is an artist’s CHAIR-ity ART Object being auctioned at the Arts Council of the Thousand Islands’ (ACOTTI) 2nd Annual “CHAIR-ity” ART AUCTION!

Only a week away, local artists and students of St. Lawrence College’s Fine Arts Program have been in full creativity mode since early January. Each artist has taken a found chair and “transformed” into an ART object.

Twelve of the chairs are currently on display in Downtown Brockville locations until April 13 th . Visit the ACOTTI Facebook page for a list of participating stores and artists. From April 14 th to the Art Auction on April 20 th , all the chairs will be on exhibit at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at the St. Lawrence College, Brockville Campus.

“It is amazing to see what these artists have created”, notes Laurie Sponagle, a participating artist and CHAIR-ity Art Auction committee member. “The chairs in the Downtown storefronts vary in inspiration from Chagall-like painted velvet, to water motifs and assemblages that were garden, Steampunk, photography and wine inspired.”

The Art Objects will be auctioned off at the live “CHAIR-ity” ART Auction on Friday, April 20th, 2018 at the Gallery.

Tickets for the event may be purchased by visiting the ACOTTI “Ticketed Event” at snapd 1000 Islands (https://1000islands.snapd.com/events/view/1092776) or at the door. For more information about the event, contact ACOTTI at http://www.acotti.ca.
