LGIH Port Tasting & Paring Event Scheduled For THis Thursday Has Been Postponed

Brockville – The Leeds-Grenville Interval House (LGIH) Port Tasting & Paring event scheduled for this Thursday has been postponed.

The new date will be announced soon.

The Trees of Courage tree lighting that was also suppose to be held on Thursday after the Port Tasting at Courthouse Square has also been re-scheduled for Friday, November 24th.

On Friday, November 24th there will be a rally at Courthouse Square to kick off the 16 Days of Action against Gender Violence.

It begins at 1:30pm for a brief rally to launch the beginning of the 16 Days of Action in Leeds and Grenville. This is the day they will light the Trees of Courage at Courthouse Square and new this year, at Blockhouse Island, next to the Women’s Monument.

Be sure to drive by after dusk to see how Leeds and Grenville Interval House and the City of Brockville are Shining the Light on Violence Against Women.

November 25th – Wear Purple Day:

The First official day of Action- The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Help to turn the United Counties Purple! -Shine a Light on Violence Against Women and Wrap Women of Leeds & Grenville in Courage!

They are selling purple lightbulbs for $6 each, strings of battery operated tiny led lights for $10, and limited edition, unique to Leeds and Grenville, beautiful Shine the Light lanterns with purple led lights selling for $25.

Wrapped in Courage Purple scarves are $10-$20 each.  New this year are purple neckties selling for $15. Help sponsor the lighting of the Trees of Courage by donating $1.00 per bulb to the Shine the Light fund.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women- December 6th:

LGIH are joining the Victim Issues Coordinating Committee (VICCLG) in organizing a commemorative vigil on December 6 th , 4:30-5:30 pm at the Women’s Monument, Blockhouse Island, Brockville to honor the lives of women and girls who are impacted by, or have been lost to violence, and to remember the women killed at L’Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal.  Bundle up and plan to join us for a special ceremony.  All are welcome.
