Prescott – The Town of Prescott is pleased to advise that the Leo Boivin Community Centre is reopening today, Friday, October 27th after a 15 day closure.
The Town was required to close the arena under Ontario Health and Safety regulations due to airborne mould. Over the course of the past 10 days, a decontamination process was completed and the facility can now reopen subject to the following conditions: Ongoing air scrubbing with HEPA filters for one additional week in the lobby and dressing rooms, and repeating the air quality test in seven days.
The Town is cautiously optimistic that the next air quality test will show the same or lower levels of mould and allow the Leo Boivin Community Centre to remain open for the remainder of the season.
Should the air quality test demonstrate otherwise, the Town will need to explore other remediation options which could include closing the facility for the season.
