Leeds County – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to lay charges for driving offences.
Dangerous driving charges after traffic complaint
On December 5, 2019 just before 9:15 p.m. Leeds County officers responded to a traffic complaint on eastbound Highway 401, Leeds and Thousand Islands Township. A vehicle was observed to be all over the road at high rates of speed. The driver was also seen hanging out the window making gestures at other drivers. The vehicle was stopped for investigation, a 19 year-old Brockville man was charged with dangerous operation.
Single vehicle rollover damages parked vehicles
On December 5, 2019 at about 10:00 p.m. officers responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 5, Rear of Yonge Township. The driver lost control westbound on Hard Island Road. As the vehicle entered the intersection it rolled, causing damage to two vehicles parked in a residential driveway. The driver, 16 years old of South Crosby Township was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The driver walked away with minor injuries.
Tractor trailer in the ditch
On December 6, 2019 at about 6:50 a.m. officers from the Lansdowne office responded to a single vehicle collision eastbound on Highway 401, Front Escott Township. A tractor trailer entered the ditch, requiring a tow. Investigation led to a 27 year old from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia being charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. No injuries were sustained as a result of this collision.
