Leeds OPP Investigating Armed Robbery in Elgin

Elgin – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Leeds County Crime Unit are currently investigating an armed robbery.

OPP say on March 2, 2021 just after 2:00 p.m., officers and members of the Emergency Response Team responded to a business on Water Street in Elgin where a robbery was reported to have occurred. A masked male entered the location, brandishing a suspected firearm, demanding cash. The victim was assaulted and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’9″, stalky build, wearing a dark coloured hoodie with a hood, blue jeans a black cloth face mask and medical booties over his boots. The suspect fled on foot with a stolen orange Echo CS310 chainsaw and undisclosed amount of cash.
