Brockville – The Leeds & Grenville Charity Hockey Challenge raised $37,000 for Community & Primary Health Care (CPHC) last Thursday evening at the Brockville Memorial Centre.

Co-chaired by MP Gord Brown, MPP Steve Clark and Brockville Mayor David Henderson it featured NHL and OHL Alumni, local dignitaries and Members of Parliament, which included former NHLer Alyn McCauley and Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown.

As well, George Tackaberry and Gerald Tallman served as honourary co-chairs of the event, while Prescott’s Hockey Hall of Famer, Leo Boivin, dropped the puck at the opening ceremony. Opening ceremonies also featured The Thousand Islanders Chorus who performed O Canada and another song.

The money raised Thursday evening surpassed their goal of $35,000.

The money raised will go to support the many CPHC programs and services, including Meals on Wheels, Diners Club, foot care as well as Lifeline to the public – mostly senior citizens – in the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark area.
