Gananoque – On July 27, 2019 officers while on routine patrol observed a male operating a motor vehicle in the wrong direction on a one-way roadway in the Town of Gananoque.
The male was also recognized by officers and was known to have a disqualified driver’s license from previous criminal code driving convictions. Officers conducted a traffic stop and confirmed the male’s identity.
The male was observed to have open alcohol in the vehicle and further investigation revealed the male was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The driver provided a roadside screening device sample and as a result was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg/ml.
The male was transported to police headquarters where he provided suitable samples of his breath with readings 2 times the legal limit. The male was also on probation from previous criminal code convictions.
As a result of the investigation, the 25 year old male from Lansdowne was charged criminally with driving while prohibited, driving with over 80 mg/ml and fail to comply with probation x2.
The male was released from custody to appear in Brockville Court at a later date.
The accused received a further automatic 90 day drivers license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
