Lanark OPP Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Drummond/North Elmsley – On August 17, 2019 around12:30 p.m., officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a serious, two vehicle collision on Macphails Road between Drummond Concession 2 and Tennyson Road, (Ontario).

McKenzie REMUS, age 20 of Perth, Ontario was pronounced deceased at the scene. A ten-month old passenger in the same vehicle was uninjured. The male driver of the same vehicle did not sustain serious injuries.  The male driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Lanark Officers were assisted by Lanark County Paramedics, Drummond/North Elmsley Fire Department, Drummond/North Elmsley Township and members of the OPP Collision Reconstruction Unit. McPhails Road remained closed until around 7:00 p.m. while the investigation was conducted.

Although the road has been re-opened, the cause of the collision itself is still under investigation.
