LANARK COUNTY – Between Monday, June 3 and Monday, June 10, 2019 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 456 calls for service.

Lanark County OPP is looking for assistance regarding a Fail to Remain collision which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on June 1, 2019 on Drummond Concession 7 in Drummond, North Elmsley Township. The vehicle in question struck a mailbox and a gate. The rear bumper for a grey HONDA Civic was located in the ditch at the location and the vehicle will have substantial undercarriage damage. Impaired Drivers – 2
A 43 year old female resident of Carleton Place was arrested for impaired operation on June 7, 2019 after a concerned citizen contacted the Carleton Place OPP regarding observing the driver consuming alcohol while behind the wheel. The driver’s licence was suspended for seven days for having more than 50 mg of alcohol in her system while driving and she was charged with driving with an open container of liquor.
A RIDE program conducted by members of the OPP Snow machine, ATV, Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) Unit in Mississippi Mills Township on June 9, 2019 around noon resulted in stopping an impaired driver. Dennis GREENE, age 62 of Mississippi Mills Township was arrested and charged with impaired operation and later released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on July 8, 2019 to answer the charge.
On June 9, 2019 around 3:00 p.m., Kevin MITCHELL, age 60 of Perth, Ontario was stopped and charged by Lanark County OPP for impaired operation and later released on a Promise to Appear. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on July 8, 2019.
Domestic Incidents – 12
A call to Lanark County OPP from a concerned citizen in Lanark Highlands Township on June 7, 2019 shortly after 5:30 p.m. resulted in the arrest and charge of a 42 year old male resident of Carleton Place, Ontario. The accused was charged with assault, mischief and failing to comply with undertaking and was held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 8, 2019. The male cannot be identified in order to protect the victim.
A domestic incident at Silver Lake Campground on June 9, 2019 around 7:30 p.m. resulted in the arrest and charge of a 58 year old male from Loyalist Township, Ontario. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on July 8, 2019 to answer the charge. He cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the victim who received minor injuries.
A 9-1-1 call from a concerned female in Tay Valley Township resulted in the arrest and charge of a 45 year old male from Perth, Ontario. The male who cannot be identified in order to protect the victim was charged with breach of recognizance and disobeying a court order. A court date has been scheduled for July 8, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth. The female victim did not sustain any injuries.
Break and Enters – 1
Sometime overnight June 4-5, 2019, unknown suspects(s) attended a Golf Course in Lanark Highlands Township, broke into an outbuilding and stole a large quantity of power tools and equipment. On May 13, 2019 Carleton Place OPP were advised of a black, enclosed, utility trailer having been stolen from a construction worksite in Mississippi Mills Township. The trailer was located abandoned at a storage facility in the Town of Carleton Place on June 5, 2019 where it had been left for approximately two weeks. Numerous power tools are still outstanding from inside the trailer. With assistance from a concerned citizen, officers from the Lanark County OPP located and arrested Lorraine CUSSON, age 51 of Perth, Ontario on June 6, 2019 on outstanding warrants in relation to several incidents within Lanark County. The accused has been charged with eight counts of obtaining food by false pretences, food and lodging fraud, theft under $5000 and shoplifting. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 8, 2019.

Carleton Place OPP were called on the afternoon of June 4, 2019 regarding death threats within Mississippi Mills Township. Officers located and charged Gilmour DRUMMOND, age 76 with one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on July 22, 2019.
The 69 year old pilot of a single seat, ultra-light airplane which crashed along the runway in Beckwith Township on June 8, 2019 shortly before 12:30 p.m. was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Transport Canada will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
A 41 year old resident of Tay Valley Township has lost his licence and had his vehicle impounded for seven days resulting from a stunt driving charge on June 9, 2019 around 1:30 p.m. The driver was stopped by Lanark County OPP on County Road 43 in Drummond, North Elmsley Township doing 123 km/hour in a 60 km/hour zone.
