LANARK COUNTY – Once again the program was a success! The Lanark County Family and Children Services and OPP angel tree program is at year 34, and our community came through once again as they have every year with close to 600 children receiving presents through the program!
A thank you to all our community partners:
- The Lanark County township offices, Lanark County Administration, the Perth Town Hall, OPP East Region Headquarters, OPP Provincial Communication Center and the Pakenham Library.
- Our Perth partners that include Albany, Eaton, The Great War Memorial Hospital of Perth District Foundation, Uniglass / Jeff’s Windows and Doors, and Lanark County OPP detachment.
- Our Carleton Place partners that include All Purpose Towing, Ricks Glass Medic and Tinting, The Studio School of Dance, Heritage Dental, Walmart and Carleton Place OPP detachment.
A further thanks to the elementary schools and high schools that also participated. Many students pooled money in their classrooms and then purchased gifts for an angel. The student participation is a welcome and overwhelming success.
Numerous hand knitted items were also donated by the Montague Forget Me Not Seniors Club, and Barnabe’s Independent Grocer mitt tree to keep children warm!
Transportation of these gifts by the OPP was with the assistance of the Lanark County Crime Stoppers. They were instrumental with loaning their trailer to assist with picking the multitude of gifts up.
Lastly a huge thank you to all those who attended a tree location and retrieved an angel. This program is a success due to the generosity of our area residents and those who host a tree.
Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
