Rideau Lakes – Officers of the Rideau Lakes and Leeds Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police continue investigations after two impaired drivers were arrested.
On December 1, 2017 at about 2:45 P.M. Rideau Lakes O.P.P officers were advised of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of County Road 42 and Highway 15 in Rideau Lakes Township. After an investigation one of the drivers was arrested for driving while impaired. 62 year old Paul PETERS of Rideau Lakes Township is scheduled to answer to an Impaired Driving charge and for having more than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Division, Brockville on December 29, 2017.
On December 2, 2017 at about 5:20 P.M. Leeds OPP officers stopped a man for a Highway Traffic Act offence that occurred on Highway 401 in Elizabethown – Kitley Township. After an investigation the driver was arrested for driving while impaired. 47 year old Jacques DAVRIEUX of Oshawa is scheduled to answer to an Impaired Driving charge and for having more than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Division, Brockville on January 5, 2018.
While Leeds OPP officers do increase their number of R.I.D.E. stops over the holidays, they are reminding drivers that R.I.D.E. stops are carried out throughout the year, throughout the province as part of the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Program.
Heading into the New Year, the OPP is reminding Ontarians that they all have a role to play in ending impaired driving-related deaths. Make a commitment to never drive after consuming alcohol or drugs. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired, call 9-1-1 to report them to police. In doing so, you could be saving lives.
