Brockville – The annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is being held this Sunday, May 31st, but this time it is virtual do to covid-19.
Normally there is a Brockville & Gananoque walk held each year.
All Alzheimer Societies across Canada will unite to bring you this special event: the 2020 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s – online.
You can still participate, safely, and raise much-needed funds for local programs and services.
Join Alzheimer Societies coast-to-coast, starting at 9am PST/noon EST, for a fun and exciting “televised” event from your computer. The event can be watched from anywhere with an internet connection!
Watch, walk or fundraise – or do all three! while you stream the Walk live from the comfort and safety of your home or backyard, to recognize and honor friends and family members who have been affected by dementia.
While we continue to do our part to contain the spread of the coronavirus, physical and social distancing causes people with dementia to feel even more lonely and isolated. Walk Online will send them the important message that we’re here for them.
Here are some ideas to create your own WALK ONLINE:
Follow your Fitbit, smartphone, or smartwatch step tracker. Log your steps and challenge friends to match your mark using social media.
Do the funniest Monty Python-esque walk around your home, and challenge your friends to top it.
Do a funky dance in your home, then share it as a video online on IG, Facebook, TikTok, etc.
Challenge your friends to who can climb the most stairs.
Your dog can help fundraise, too! Take it out for extra walks.
Record personal expressions of support and pledge your support online.
