It’s Groundhog Day and after a long stretch of cold temperatures many have their hopes set on an early spring.
Not surprisingly, the groundhogs are of mixed messages this year. Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie Sam delivered a prediction of an extended winter season, shortly after which Ontario’s Wiarton Wille predicted an early spring.
In Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring for us all. Fred la marmotte in Val-d’Espoir Quebec also predicted an extended winter.
At the end of the day, whether you choose to believe and support a particular groundhog or not, predictions are only that — predictions — they can always be wrong.
Here’s wishing for that early spring, and an end to this frosty season.
