Prescott – Between Monday July 10st, to Sunday July 16th 2017, the Prescott Office of the Grenville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 169 general occurrences. Of these occurrences, 45 were in Edwardsburgh /Cardinal Township, 45 in Augusta Township, 43 in the Town of Prescott and 36 on highway 401 and 416.
On July 12th, sometime overnight, an unknown suspect entered broke into a shed, located on a Pittston Road property, in Edwardsburgh Township. The suspect stole fuel and a Weed Eater, value under $300.00.
On July 16th, 2017, at approximately 11am, officers were preforming a R.I.D.E. check on Dixon Road, in Augusta Township. At this location, upon checking the sobriety of drivers passing the check point, officer’s arrested 19 year old Seth VANDENBERG, from Kingston. The accused was charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80mgs. of alcohol in blood. Additionally, he was issued a 90 day license suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The OPP would like to remind the public that an evening of excessive drinking can leave you impaired for the following morning drive. Alcohol doesn’t dissipate fast and there is no way to speed it out of your system; through sleep, food or by drinking coffee. The OPP encourage the public to be conscious of the risks associated with driving the following morning and to report drinking and driving as they see it happening.
