Delta – There was great weather for the 187th edition of the Delta Fair held this past weekend in Delta despite the fact organizers where considering cancelling the fair just days prior to the opening.
Organizers weren’t sure whether this year’s fair would be held due the amount rain the region received on the Monday prior, but by Thursday organizers say the ground had dried out to go ahead with the fair.
The second oldest agricultural fair in Ontario hosted by the Delta Agricultural Society saw 1,000’s take in the fair in the Rideau Lakes village over the weekend. Organizers say Saturday was the busiest day with over #,000 coming through the gates.
It opened on Thursday with the crowning of the Fair Ambassador, Lora Brownson and the Citizen of the Year which went to Florence Pratt.
The fair featured Rock the Arts Puppet Show, Jimmy Flynn Comedy Show, Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Tour, Goat Show, Leeds County 4-H Cloverbuds, Lawn Mower Races, antique tractor pull, Motorcycle Show and Shine and more.
Musical entertainment included Jessica Wedden, Irish Roots, Rocky High and the Northern Lights, Kirk Francois: A Tribute to Elvis, 21 Gun Salute and Grand Jook.
