A FREEZING RAIN WARNING is in effect for Merrickville-Wolford – Kemptville, Smiths Falls – Perth – Eastern Lanark County, Morrisburg – Cornwall and Ottawa. Freezing rain overnight and Monday morning.
A band of freezing rain will move in after midnight tonight, and will likely persist over Eastern Ontario well into Monday morning.
Ice accretion amounts near 5 millimetres are quite likely in many areas.
Freezing rain may be more prolonged in the Ottawa Valley Monday, as temperatures there will have difficulty in getting above the zero degree mark until Monday afternoon.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.
