Five More Local Women Honoured on Thursday Evening by Girls Inc. – VIDEO

Brockville – The Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada’s 2017 Strong, Smart & Bold Women of the Year Celebration was held on Thursday evening in Brockville.

The annual event was held at the Brockville Convention Centre. Those in attendance had a chance to get a taste of a Girls Inc. Program, participate in the ‘Raise a Paddle’ where people could bid on donating certain amounts of funds needed for Girls Inc. programs.

As well there was a silent auctiomn and the evening ended with the awards presentation to the 5 honorees.

This year’s honourees show that through amazingly different routes, they have become leaders in their fields and are affecting positive change.

Through a public nomination process, five inspiring honourees were selected who, through their work, their interests and their lifestyles, exemplify the Girls Inc. mantra: they are strong, smart and bold.

This year’s honourees are:

Sue Watts, Executive Director of the EEC and community volunteer
Jane Dargie, Educator, volunteer and quiet leader
Carol Cassleman, UCDSB Facilities Service Manager and community champion
Mary Rae Knapp, former Farmer/Insurance Broker, active volunteer and cancer survivor
Kelly McKinnon, Plant Manager of Shell Lubricants, fund-raiser and volunteer

In 2016, Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada inspired 1,333 girls to be strong, smart and bold through Girls Inc. programs and workshops.
