Brockville – The City of Brockville is pleased to be hosting an official delegation from the Republic of Korea on May 23, 2109 for a day long cultural exchange.
The delegation will include the Republic of Korea Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency Maengho Shin, Minister Dongok Lee, Colonel Changbae Yoon, First Secretary Hwasue Sung, Korean Cultural Centre Director Yong Sup Kim, Economic Counsellor Kyoung soo Lee, Second Secretary and Consul Syeho Kim, and Ottawa Korean Community President Sang Tae Kim.
The Korean Embassy as been reaching out to residents near the nation’s capital in order to enhance cultural, economic, and people-to-people ties between Korea and Canada. Brockville welcomed the opportunity to get a better understanding of Korea and to strengthen the relationship between our two countries.
The City of Brockville will be co-hosting the event which will include a flag raising ceremony, a tribute to veterans of the Korean War at the Brockville Cenotaph, a tour of the Aquatarium and the Railway Tunnel, a presentation on Korea-Canada relations and a traditional Korean dance. In the afternoon students of Fulford Academy will attend a presentation on Korean/Canadian history and ongoing relations, an introduction into Korean culture, and Korean cultural performers.
The public is invited to the flag raising ceremony behind City all at 10:45 am and to the wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph following the flag raising ceremony.
