Brockville – In collaboration with the St. Lawrence – Rideau Immigration Partnership, the City of Brockville has acquired provincial funding through the Municipal Immigration Information Online program (MIIO) to update and expand the existing Leeds & Grenville Immigration Portal (www.leedsgrenvilleimmigration.ca ).
Launched in 2010, the Portal has been providing comprehensive, area-specific information to local newcomers, and individuals overseas contemplating a move to the area. The prime objective of the Portal redevelopment is to integrate new website features and content that supports the social and economic integration of immigrants into Leeds Grenville communities. The Portal will also provide opportunity for local municipalities to promote their services, business and recreational opportunities to potential newcomers living abroad.
“Newcomers are a vital and growing part of Ontario`s communities. They contribute to the social, economic and cultural enrichment of our province. Leeds and Grenville communities are investing in a bright future by supporting programs to help engage, support and integrate newcomers into our province so that they can thrive and excel.” said Laura Albanese, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.
The City of Brockville has hired MDB Insight (www.mdbinsight.com ) to undertake the work of updating and expanding the Portal. MDB Insight will be working closely with the 13 municipalities across Leeds Grenville, in addition to immigrants and local services providers to ensure a comprehensive and relevant collection of information and tools are available for immigrants.
