LEEDS AND GRENVILLE— The Victim Issues Coordinating Committee of Leeds & Grenville will mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2017 by hosting our annual Women’s Wellness Day on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at the Brockville Memorial Centre.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. This day marks a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic spheres.
The 2017 theme for International Women’s Day is, “#BeBoldForChange.”
The Victim Issues Coordinating Committee of Leeds and Grenville recognize IWD annually by hosting the event, “Women’s Wellness Day”. This is a free event for the women of Leeds & Grenville which allows them to connect and build skills to improve their daily lives. For 2017, women will hear three speakers: Shelli Warren, Caroline Rochon, and Jennifer Hayward. Each will provide powerful presentations on the importance of relationships, de-cluttering physical and mental space, and transitioning through life changes. Participants will enjoy a catered lunch by Sue Torrance of Tasty Indulgences and be able to speak with a variety of wellness vendors.
Women’s Wellness Day registration is currently full. To be included on our event mailing list please contact, Brandy Morton at firstname.lastname@example.org. VICC holds several events throughout the year that are free and open to the public.
