Brockville – Thrifty’s in Tincap marked the end of a chapter today as staff closed their doors for the last time in the Hillcrest Plaza location. Saturday morning, staff will open the doors to a bright new location just 500 feet down the road where they will celebrate their grand re-opening and welcome the community in to visit.
This popular thrift store offers a variety of clothes, furniture, jewelry, housewares and other assorted items. All proceeds from sales go to support Heritage Community Christian School and its growing family of students. At present, this includes about 90 students from ages pre-kindergarten right through to grade 12.
Hometown TV12 had occasion to chat with Amy Buzzell, who in addition to being a teacher at the school, curates the Thrifty’s space along with her sister who is also the school’s principal.
Volunteers have been working tirelessly to prepare the new store that is almost 3 times the size of the original 2000 square foot store. says Buzzell, whose love for her work shines throughout our conversation.
The new location boasts a number of creatively crafted displays including a Christmas room, a garden centre, a sports section, and a beach-decor change room in what Buzzell describes as a little bit of Merrickville close to home.
Thrifty’s grand re-opening is being held Saturday, June 23rd, 2018. The new store is located at 4505 Rowsome Road in Brockville. Doors open at 9 AM.
