Brockville – Brockville General Hospital’s Rehabilitation Staff were all smiles having received a generous donation of $2,500 from the May Court of Brockville. This contribution provided the much needed funds for the Rehabilitation Department to purchase new parallel bars for Brockville General Hospital’s Acute Stroke Unit.
In May, 2016, Brockville General Hospital announced a new 4-bed Acute Stroke Unit on 1 East. Once there, patients receive specialized team approach stroke care. Having immediate Acute Stroke Care is known to improve survival rates and to optimize recovery and return home.
One important, and vital, piece of equipment that is needed to optimize the patient’s recovery is the use of parallel bars. One of the main features of the new equipment is that the bars are height and width adjustable and are reinforced with a third upright for the management of bariatric patients.
