New Executive Director Appointed for Aquatarium

Brockville – The Board of Directors of the Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ms. Michelle Osborne as Executive Director, effective Tuesday August 6, 2019.

Ms. Osborne was selected through a comprehensive, four stage competition from among a field of over thirty applicants. She brings a wealth of experience in leadership from the not-for-profit sector with a particular focus on financial management, building community partnerships and leading teams.

The Aquatarium Board of Directors is happy to begin the next phase of its journey with Ms. Osborne and welcomes her to the team.

Osborne comes from the Peterborough area and worked previously as the owner of MaOs Consulting Services focussing on providing not-for-profit and community organizations exceptional administrative, operational and management consulting services.

Prior to Osborne’s arrival, the position had been filled by Lesley White of the City of Brockville as Acting Executive Director from last January until Osborne’s start date of August 6th, 2019.

“As a place where my children could explore their passion for nature and nurture their curiosity for our natural environment, the Aquatarium has been a special place of interest for me for the last three years.  As the newest Executive Director, I am thrilled to be given the privilege of continuing the amazing work that has already been established and working towards evolving the programming, workshops and learning opportunities that are unique to the Aquatarium. My experience working in the non-profit sector has provided me with a strong foundation of respect for our donors and patrons whose generosity allows our work to continue. I am humbled by the trust that the Board of Governors and members (City of Brockville and  Bytown Brigantine) has instilled in me to nurture new opportunities for growth, and the encouragement I have already been given to investigate new pathways for improved programming and projects.”   says Osborne.

I will be transparent in my leadership and will call upon the strong team of dedicated leaders, staff and volunteers to share with me their vision of our future, to create a realistic plan of growth and development for the Aquatarium.

I look forward to meeting all members of the community and welcoming tourists and groups as we move ahead to celebrate our facility and create new opportunities for engagement.

Thank you.”
