High Beamed Impaired Driver Stopped

LEEDS –   Officers of the Thousand Islands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped another impaired driver after witnessing a traffic offence.

On March 2, 2019 at about 9:00 p.m. OPP officers stopped a vehicle on County Road 3 in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township after a driver flashed his high beams at a patrolling officer. The driver was stopped and arrested for Driving with Over 80 mg of Alcohol in his Blood.

57 year old Lorne RUNNING of Gananoque is scheduled to appear at the Brockville Court of Justice on March 22, 2019 to answer to his charge.

A sober passenger removed the vehicle from the roadway.

We remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways. If someone sees someone driving who they think is impaired, they should pull over and safely call 911 to let us know.
