Happy Green Acres Announces Inaugural Big River Country Festival

Brockville – Coming to Happy Green Acres in 2020 a new country music and camping

He’s more Mellencamp than Merle. His lyrics champion the ‘Blue Collar Hero’ in a manner that
resonates of Springsteen and other roots rock legends, but it is in the country music format that Charlie Major finds his home. Rising to the forefront of the Canadian Music scene in the early to mid-nineties, Charlie had a heyday at radio as he became the first Canadian artist in history to score six BDS #1 hits off of his debut album. Nine more chart topping hits would follow, and Charlie would crisscross the world headlining tours and connecting with his fans at fairs and festivals.

Over a decade later Charlie is as successful as ever, he headlines his own tours and pairs up with the
likes of ZZ Top to rock arenas full of fans from coast to coast. He has sold nearly half a million records in Canada alone and won 3 Juno Awards and 7 CCMA’s, but you wouldn’t know it to meet him, and he would not tell you. He wears the cloak of humility, just like the hardworking folks that he represents in his music.

Truly a Canadian legend and one of the accomplished ‘nice guys’ in the game, Charlie would not have it any other way.

Having shared the stage with artists such as Dan & Shay, Hunter Hayes, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith and Brett Kissel, Kingston, Ontario’s own Abby Stewart will join Charlie Major on Saturday July 11.

Abby may be young, but she has accomplished so much in such a short period. From sharing the stage for a duet with Hunter Hayes, Dan + Shay, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith or Aaron Pritchett or opening for Hunter on his Canadian tour dates or completing a set at some of Canada’s biggest music festivals, her star is on the rise.

Her versatility and passion for music shines through whether she’s belting out one of her radio friendly originals, a Taylor Swift or Band Perry lyric or turns back the clock to a Dolly Parton, Anne Murray or Buck Owens classic.

As one of the three recently announced Sirius XM “Top of the Country” finalists, singer-songwriter and actress Kelsi Mayne is proving to be one of Canada’s fastest emerging country artists.
Kelsi currently divides her time songwriting between Toronto and Nashville but, a dual-city allegiance is nothing new to her. Windsor, Ontario’s hometown sweetheart, continues to be true to her blue-collar roots. Growing up within earshot of Detroit, each city provides a rich source of her musical inspiration.

Kelsi is also the world’s only country singer boasting both a nursing degree and a track record as a
nationally ranked hurdler… So, if your heart stops at one of her shows, she’ll either help you on the spot, or run for some. Real fast.

Also joining the lineup are Jordy Jackson, Danny Sylvestre, The Rifle & The Writer, Craig Curtis, Landon Martin, Beartracks and more to be announced.

Big River Country Music Festival will see country music return to the 1000 Islands region for the first time since 2015 when Capital Country Fest brought some of Canada’s best country artists to

“We wanted to offer an entertaining mix of some old & new country in a smaller festival setting. The goal was to provide an opportunity for some up and coming artists to get come stage time along with some, more seasoned, established artists and, just a for fun, throw in a sprinkle of non-traditional bluegrass. We wanted to offer an event where the fans could be up close & personal with all the performers, something not always possible at larger events. Of course, we just love blending camping with live music, they seem to go together!” says Henry Boer, founder of the Big River Country Festival.
