Brockville – One of our most popular seasonal events is back, the Friends of Mac Johnson Wildlife Area Annual Fall Festival at the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville.
The outdoor party takes place on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features several fun activities for every member of the family. You can enjoy the blazing and breathtaking fall colours, watch the waterfowl – including perhaps some trumpeter swans – on the reservoir in a canoe or kayak (courtesy of the CRCA), and enjoy live music. This year there is an ‘eyes-only’ scavenger hunt and starting at 11 a.m. join a local wildlife expert for a guided hike to find recently sighted birds and animals. Young artists can also build a birdhouse and paint a rock monster.
If you get hungry, the Friends will also have a barbecue lunch available at the Nature Centre. After lunch, folks can make popcorn and toast marshmallows at the newly-renovated fire pit near the pond. For more information and updates on other special attractions on this exciting day, visit us on Facebook or www.crca.ca/events. Admission is $5 per car.
To get to the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area, take Highway 29 north from Brockville to Tincap,
turn east on Debruge Road and drive for two kilometres to the main entrance.
