MALLORYTOWN – Parts of the Central Grenadier Island property at Thousand Islands National Park will be closed on Thursday, June 14, for a multi-jurisdictional Marine Training Day. This is strictly a training event and visitor access to Central Grenadier Island is not permitted during this time.
The Marine Training Day is hosted by the Leeds Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit with other emergency services. Emergency services from Police, Fire, Ambulance, Canada Border Services, Parks Canada, and Canada Coast Guard are amongst some of the participants in this St. Lawrence River training event.
Visitor safety is a top priority for Parks Canada. Parts of Central Grenadier Island will be temporarily closed during this exercise from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday June 14. Visitors to Thousand Islands National Park are advised to exercise caution and respect all closures.
