Brockville Police Reports – June 20, 2017

Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from June 19th to 20th, 2017.

Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement

The Brockville Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and Ministry of Transportation Enforcement officers teamed up yesterday for a Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement blitz at various locations throughout the city.

During the initiative, 9 motor vehicles were thoroughly inspected resulting in 12 charges under the Highway Traffic for a variety of offences and 2 vehicles being taken out of service.

Thefts from Vehicles in the City’s south end

Yesterday morning Brockville Police received three complaints from vehicle owners of minor thefts from unlocked vehicles parked in various locations throughout the city’s south end. Items taken from the vehicles include loose change, clothing and electronics equipment such as cellphones.

A fourth complaint was received from a car owner reporting damage to his vehicle in the south end but did not notice anything missing from their vehicle.

Car owners are reminded to lock their cars overnight even if the vehicle is in your driveway. If you must park your car on the street overnight, park it in a well-lit area, and remove all valuable items from view from outside the car.

Residents are asked to contact police if you observe individuals walking in the area of parked cars and checking door handles and not to approach these people themselves.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or submit a tip anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.tipsubmit.com and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.
