Brockville Police Reports – February 5, 2017

Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from February 3rd to 4th, 2017.

Breach of Bail Conditions:

On the 4th of February, 2017 Brockville Police officers were flagged down by a community member advising of an individual's strange behaviour in the North end of town.

Police officers knew this 44 year old male to be on an alcohol condition and observed him to be carrying beer. He became combative and resistant to officers attempting to effect the arrest. Attempts were made to take control of the individual the male continued to become increasingly agitated.

He was tasered effectively and brought into custody. He was charged with obstruct and breach and released with a new court date. The male suffered no injuries.

Fail to Remain:

On the 3rd of February, 2017 in the early morning hours Brockville Police received a complaint regarding a fail to remain accident on Parkedale Avenue at the VIA train crossing. Investigation revealed that a large truck had struck the overhead lights of the train crossing causing them to break and lay across the tracks.

An oncoming VIA train collided with the pole causing to to land on the other side of Parkedale Avenue. The driver of the truck has been located and charged under the Highway to Traffic Act.

Motorists are advised to be patient at that crossing due to VIA having to stop and proceed with caution until the damaged pole can be replaced.

Vehicle Stolen:

On the 3rd of February, 2017 at approximately 2300hrs police located a vehicle in the centre of town without it’s tail lights on. Once the officers turned around to investigate the vehicle the unknown occupant(s) had fled from the vehicle.

Upon speaking with the owner it revealed the keys to the vehicle were left inside and unknown persons had stolen it. Community members are reminded to ensure their vehicle is locked when it is not attended and that any valuables are not left inside.
